Message from Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Science and Engineering.The University's academic activities were formally inaugurated there in the academic year 2006-2007 in four Departments under two Faculties. Faculty of Science and Engineering is one of them. The University was formally inaugurated on 3 June 2006, and academic classes of this faculty commenced on 3 June 2007 in the academic year 2006-2007 on the University's main campus. In the beginning, there was only one department under this faculty, named Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Thus, the faculty started its academic activity from the very beginning of the University. For the first time in 2006, only 30 students were enrolled in the 2006-2007 academic session under Science and Engineering faculty.

After a journey of more than a decade, the faculty is now providing its education in 4 (four) different departments: (i) Department of Computer Science and Engineering, (ii) Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, (iii) Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, and (iv) Department of Statistics. Currently, the faculty is offering different programs/degrees in these four departments, such as (i) 4 Years Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor of Science (BSc.) and Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.Sc. Engg.), (ii) 1.5 Year Master's Degree: Master of Science (M.S.) and Master of Science in Engineering (M.Sc. Engg.), and (iii) Post Graduate Research Degree: Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). At the very beginning, from the academic session 2006-07, the faculty offered only a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.Sc. Engg.) degree. The Master of Science (MS) program started in 2012. It starts its Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in the session of 2018-19.

Currently, 36 (Thirty-Six) talented faculty members are working in different departments under this faculty and most of them achieved their degrees from different reputed universities. They have made significant contributions to enhancing the research and education of this University. Our alumni are working as teachers at various government and private universities as well as in colleges and polytechnic institutes. A good number of them are working as Programmer/Engineer/IT officers at universities, various ministries of the government of Bangladesh, and in different Banks. Most of them work in various software firms, networking firms, industries, power sectors and corporate offices to support them as IT experts/officials. They are working there reputedly. We guess it from the matter that few of the firms, where our graduates are working, called us to send them more graduates to work there. Some of our graduates started their M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in universities at home and abroad. Finally, it could be stated that the faculty of Science and Engineering is well-performing among the faculties at this University.
