"Folklore is just as much, if not more of, an agent of the present as it is of the past"- T.J Blank. The study of Folklore emphasis the study of creativity and aesthetic expression in everyday life and the political implications of that expression as it unfolds in contested arenas of culture. Department of Folklore within the faculty of social science at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University got approval in 2011 and in 2015 it started its academic journey with 2014-15 academic sessions. Currently undergraduate and post-graduate programs are running offering wide range of methodological, theoretical, historical, and practical courses to make ready the students for their employment in public sector and research.
