Md. Abdul Karim is a Lecturer at the Department of Film and Media Studies, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Before starting his journey as an academic, he served for several national media organizations namely the country’s national English daily –The Daily Observer, and the online news portal newsnextbd.com   
Mr. Karim obtained his graduation (BSS) and post-graduation (MSS) from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka.
Besides teaching, he does research in different areas including Film Studies, Film Criticism, New Media, Media & Culture, Education, and Journalism Studies.

Master of Social Sciences (MSS) in Mass Communication & Journalism from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2017.
Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) in Mass Communication & Journalism from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2016.

Training /Workshop and Conference:
v Participated in the CJEN Bangladesh seventh Networking Conference entitled Social Media Behaviour, Media Education: The Way Forward organized by DW Akademie and Mass Communication and Journalism Department, held on June 10, 2023, at Barishal University.
v Completed a daylong training workshop on Effective Teaching,-Learning & Assessment, and Curriculum Development based on Learning Outcomes organized by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), JKKNIU, held at KU campus, Bangladesh on 16 May 2023.
v Participated in the CJEN Bangladesh sixth Networking Conference entitled Constructive Journalism: Media Search for Solutions organized by DW Akademie and Mass Communication and Journalism Discipline, held on 03-04 December 2022 at Khulna University.
v Completed a day-long workshop on Overseas Higher Education organized by The Teachers Association of JKKNIU, held at the respective campus, Bangladesh on 06 June 2022.
v Completed a four-day long workshop on Investigative Journalism organized by the Press Institute of Bangladesh held in 2018.
v Completed a training program on the Role of Journalists in the Protection of Human Rights organized by Empowerment through Law of the Common People (ELCOP) and commissioned by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Bangladesh held in Dhaka on 9 May 2015.
v Completed a three-day-long training on Basic First Aid organized by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society held in 2018. And Completed three months of computer training on Microsoft Offices and Internet Browsing in 2013.        
 
 
Involvement in Organizations
Former treasurer: Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA)
Ex-President at Developing Group of Ten (DG-10), a local voluntary organization.
Ex-General Secretary at Dhaka University Students’ Association of Haluaghat (DUSAH), a university-based regional students leading organization.  
Awarded Campus (DU) Journalism Award-2017 as the first position for best university reporting.    
Traveling: Study Tour in India in 2017, visited Bhutan in 2018, and traveled to India and Nepal in 2019
